MAKE, RATTLE and ROLL is a fun, free, family event where kids can engage in creative, open-ended play and learning with toys and art materials from Cape Cod Toy Library. Space at The Old Firehouse in Orleans will be thoughtfully set up by early childhood art educators and teachers to engage children in fun, creative play, and learning. Join them to:
MAKE - Creative arts exploration with recycled materials, paint, etc.
RATTLE - Musical expression with percussion instruments and drums
ROLL - Kids Kitchen to “mold, mash and bake” with playdoh and
ROLL with oodles of natural materials,
ROLL with imaginative play spaces,
ROLL with blocks, trucks, animals, puzzles, and games!

Join us Saturday for "Nest Play"! The creative and sensory play materials are designed to spark curiosity and nurture brain development through open-ended play. The materials are most suitable for children ages 18 months to 8 years old.

PD Puppets @ Toy Library
“Using Puppets to Enrich Social-Emotional Learning in Libraries, Preschool, and Kindergarten Classrooms”
Saturday, February 3rd 2:00-4:00 pm @ Toy Library, 1663 Main Street, West Barnstable (back of First Lutheran Church) Come early or stay afterwards to tour the Toy Library &/or choose toys to borrow with a Play Passport Subscription.
Please join Mary Wilson, educator, and professional puppeteer, for a workshop on puppets that is designed to stimulate oral and written language, storytelling, performance skills, problem solving, and self-expression. Learn puppetry techniques and how to incorporate them in your teaching within the Social Emotional Standards. Instruction will include puppetry mechanics, review of adaptations for diverse learners, and outcome measurement tools.
This training will leave you inspired to include puppets in your work. This workshop is also beneficial for children’s librarians and connecting early childhood SEL literature to puppets.

Participants in this program will be expected to:
· Gain an understanding of children’s developmental levels and abilities with relation to the use of puppetry.
· Learn skills to include puppets in the classroom to support teaching within the ELA Curriculum Frameworks and the Social Emotional Standards
· Learn ways of using puppets to promote phonemic awareness, language acquisition, storytelling, problem solving and self -expression.
· Learn ways to use puppets with diverse learners.
Participants will receive a certificate for 2 contact hours.

Su D'Ambrosio, Creative Seeds
This music class for students ages 0-4 with a caregiver features songs, stories, and activities designed to plant the seeds of basic music competence. Young children learn by doing and experiencing concepts in their body, and this is especially true for music. By actively singing, dancing, playing instruments, and participating in the creative process, students achieve true understanding and mastery, and the creative seeds are planted and nurtured for growth and development. In this class, you will connect with your child and learn how to incorporate music and movement activities at home. Activities are modified for infants and toddlers.

In Percussion Explorers, students will explore different percussion instruments and learn about rhythm, patterns, and dynamics through play and exploration. Students learn basic musical skills while also learning to be part of a musical community and having fun!
