Our Founder & Board President, Deb Willsea, also serves as full-time Executive Director. Additionally, we have two part-time positions: a Toy Librarian and a Child Development Play Specialist.
Lais Fajersztajn is our Toy Librarian and bilingual Portuguese-English.
Lais earned her PhD in Science in Public Health in Brazil, completed fellowship leadership training at the Global Brain Health Institute in San Francisco, trained as a physical therapist, and worked with children's disabilities. Lais brings her enthusiasm for Cape Cod Toy Library's welcoming environment to her family and others from diverse populations.
I am originally from a large city in Brazil and I'm completely new to the concept of the toy library and I love every aspect of it. It is much more than playing. It is environmentally friendly and teaches respect and other community values for children. It is such a warm welcoming place for the community. It feels good to come to a place that treats children so thoughtfully and is so receptive to foreigners and diverse people. The Toy Library has this community belonging feeling that helps to navigate motherhood.
Gratitude to Cape Cod Foundation and others for supporting this position!
Katie Everson, OTD, OTR/L, is our Child Development Play Specialist.
Katie holds a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Bay Path University with over 10 years of experience through pediatrics, mental health, and trauma-informed care, working with children on the autism spectrum and supporting children with sensory processing challenges. Katie brings a wealth of knowledge in child development and the therapeutic benefits of play. Whether it's introducing a child to a new toy, facilitating sensory-rich play experiences, or supporting families in choosing the best play materials for each child's developmental stage, Katie brings a compassionate and knowledgeable approach to every interaction.
As an advocate for play-based learning, I am excited for the opportunity to work in a welcoming environment where children of all abilities can explore, learn and grow through play. I am passionate about supporting children with sensory processing challenges, fostering cooperative play among diverse groups of children, and promoting mental wellness in children and families. I believe that play is essential, not only for child development by fostering children's creativity, social skills, and cognitive development, but also for strengthening connections within the community.
